This 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa convertible was built in Los Angeles, California, and was acquired by the seller in June 1999, reportedly from the son of the original owner. The car is finished in Tropic Turquoise over Light Turquoise vinyl, and it is powered by a turbocharged 164ci flat-six paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a white soft top, 13″ steel wheels with polished covers, and a telescoping wood-rimmed steering wheel. Recent service is said to have included reupholstering the seats, rebuilding turbocharger, and replacing the carburetor, clutch, motor mounts, suspension bushings, ball joints, shocks, springs, strut rods, thermostat bellows, heater ducts, and spark plugs and wires.
The car was is finished from the factory in Tropic Turquoise (L) and was repainted in 2011. Exterior details include a white convertible top, a Light Turquoise top boot, chrome bumpers, a silver tail panel, and a single exhaust outlet. The seller reports that the convertible top was replaced in 2011, and the top cover was replaced in 2021.
The 13″ steel wheels have polished covers that show corrosion, and the right-front wheel cover is dented. Kumho Solus tires are fitted all around.
The cabin features seats and door panels trimmed in Light Turquoise vinyl as well as matching carpets and black dashboard accents. The seats are said to have been recently reupholstered with replacement foam, and the heater ducts were also recently replaced.
The telescoping wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges. The clock and the fuel-level gauge do not work. The five-digit odometer shows 17k miles.
The turbocharged 164ci flat-six was rated at 180 horsepower when new and drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. Recent seller-reported maintenance includes an oil change, rebuilding the turbocharger, and replacing the carburetor, clutch, spark plugs, and motor mounts.
The sale includes manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a set of floor mats.
