This 1970 Ford Ranchero GT is one of 66 examples produced for the model year that were powered by a 429ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and it was purchased by its current owner in 1987. The vehicle is finished in red over dark red vinyl upholstery, and factory equipment includes power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, hideaway headlights, and a tachometer. Modifications consist of an electronic ignition, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Weber carburetor, a March Performance serpentine belt system, Hooker headers, a dual electric fan system, and an upgraded alternator and power steering pump. Service completed in 2021 included a transmission rebuild and replacement of the front grille, headers, spark plugs, thermostat housing, and fan system.
The vehicle was ordered in red (T) and has been repainted. Exterior features include hideaway headlights, a hood scoop, chrome trim, 429 and GT badging, and fading yellow-to-red side stripes.
14″ Magnum 500-style wheels are mounted with 225/70 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires. This example was ordered with power-assisted front disc brakes and steering from the factory, the latter of which was reportedly recently upgraded. A brake fluid flush was performed in October 2021, at which time a power steering hose was also replaced.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames an optional 8k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows over 41k miles.
The N-code 429ci V8 is modified with a Weber carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a K&N air cleaner, an upgraded alternator, a March Performance serpentine belt system, chrome-finished valve covers, a dual electric radiator fan system, and a Mallory Ignition electronic ignition system with MSD wires.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled in August 2021, at which time Hooker headers were fitted and the exhaust gaskets were also replaced.
