This 1972 Jeep Commando wagon was purchased new by the seller from Key-American, Inc. of Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 8, 1972 finished in Yuca Tan and powered by a 304ci V8 teamed with a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes front and rear bench seats, a cassette player, aftermarket auxiliary gauges, a roll bar, steel wheels with hubcaps, a rear spare, and a white hardtop with a roof rack. The exterior has been refinished, and the carburetor was cleaned and adjusted in preparation for the sale.
Delivered new in Yuca Tan (493), the truck was refinished within the past ten years according to the seller. Features include a white hardtop with a roof rack plus a swing-away spare at the rear.
White-painted 15″ steel wheels wear finned covers and are mounted with 215/75 Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S tires that were replaced in 2014. The truck features solid axles front and rear, with locking front hubs.
Worn tan upholstery on the split-folding front bench seat has been fitted with a patterned cover. Rubber mats are located in the front footwells, an aftermarket cassette player is mounted in the factory location, and a crack is noted in the dash. A roll bar is positioned behind the front seats.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a 110-mph speedometer flanked by fuel-level and water-temperature gauges. Six auxiliary gauges are positioned to the right of the driver, including four in a custom panel in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 65k miles.
The 304ci V8 was serviced in 2021 with a carburetor cleaning and adjustment. The engine was factory rated to produce 150 net horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque.
Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels through a floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck received a 3.73:1 final-drive ratio for the front differential as well as a skid plate for the fuel tank from the factory. A larger fuel tank and solid clutch linkage have been installed.
