This 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is finished in red over tan leather and is powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a black Targa panel, 16″ Fuchs wheels, fog lights, air conditioning, cruise control, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo. Modifications include a later-model DME, Steve Wong chip, 911 Turbo-style tie rods, a Wevo short shift kit, and a Rennline strut tower brace. The car was acquired by the seller in 2017 and subsequent work consisted of rebuilding the engine, installing Bilstein B6 shocks, replacing Targa seals, installing replacement hoses for the heating system, and replacing brake rotors, pads, lines, and fluid.
The body is finished in Guards Red, and equipment includes fog lights, a front spoiler, a removable Targa top, and US-market rear bumperettes. The owner states that the car was involved in an incident and the front panels were repaired and repainted along with the passenger side rear quarter panel. Work under current ownership consisted of rebuilding the windshield washer system and servicing the windshield wiper motor as well as installing Targa seals and powder coating and reupholstering the roof.
Factory 16×7″ front and 16X7″ rear Fuchs wheels are wrapped in 205/55 Doral SDL 55 A tires up front and 225/50 Dunlop SP Sport FM901 tires out back. A brake system service included replacing the rotors and pads, adding braided brake lines, and completing a brake fluid flush. Bilstein B6 yellow shocks and Turbo tie rods were reportedly installed under current ownership.
The cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in tan with matching door panel inserts and carpets. Faded floor mats with red Porsche lettering protect the carpets, and amenities include power windows, a Wevo short shift kit with Wevo coupling, and a Blaupunkt Malibu cassette stereo. The dashboard clock has been rebuilt, the heating system was serviced with replacement hoses and non-air conditioning model parts, the fresh air box was cleaned, and the windshield wiper motor was serviced. The air conditioning and cruise control modules have been removed and are included in the sale.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,250-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer indicates 160k miles.
The 3.2-liter flat-six was factory rated at 217 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Work under current ownership is said to have consisted of an engine rebuild including replacement of the valve guides and installation of a Supertec head stud kit. Modifications include a later model 28-pin DME rebuilt by ECU Doctors in Oakland Park, Florida, and a Steve Wong ECU chip. The removed ECU chip is included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed Type 915 manual transaxle. According to the seller, the transmission was rebuilt under previous ownership and the first and second synchros, gears, dog teeth, and a slider were replaced.
Spare parts, manufacturer’s literature, and a tool kit are included in the sale.
