This 1964 Land Rover Series IIA is a left-hand-drive 109″ wheelbase pickup that was first delivered to Canada in August 1962 and acquired by the seller in 2008. Refurbishment work completed in 2020 included a repaint in green, an interior refresh with black vinyl upholstery, and an overhaul of the 2.5-liter diesel inline-four, which is mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes a removable hardtop, power steering, a galvanized steel frame, inward-facing rear bench seats, and a heater box, while services performed in preparation for the sale include an oil change and replacement of the fuel lift pump, glow plugs, lighting assemblies, springs, shocks, and starter.
The truck was originally finished in red, and during the refurbishment, the aluminum body panels were disassembled, media blasted, and refinished in green with door and rear-body cappings that were re-galvanized at the same time. Features include a body-color removable hardtop with an ivory-finished roof, sliding front windows, black side mirrors, a folding windshield, steel bumpers, and a red-finished pintle hitch. The window and door seals were replaced in 2021, and the lighting assemblies were replaced in preparation for the sale. The seller reports that a tan canvas soft top is also included in the sale.
Ivory-finished 16″ wheels are mounted with Dunlop SP Sand Grip tires, and a full-size spare is located in the cargo area. A power steering system been fitted, which utilizes a steering box reportedly sourced from a P38A Range Rover. The drag link, track rod, and tie rods were replaced in December 2019, while the brake booster and master cylinder were replaced in January 2020. The springs and shocks were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The interior was overhauled during the refurbishment in 2021 and features three individual front seats upholstered in black vinyl in addition to a painted dashboard, door panels, and flooring. Additional equipment includes a heater box, front lap belts, and inward-facing rear bench seats.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a painted dashboard with centrally-mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 75-mph speedometer and gauges displaying amperage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles.
The 2.5-liter 12J diesel inline-four was installed under prior ownership, and service in preparation for the sale included an oil change, refurbishment of the radiator, and replacement of the starter, fuel lift pump, fuel injectors, glow plugs, and battery.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a dual-range transfer case, both of which were rebuilt during the refurbishment. The clutch and exhaust components were recently rebuilt, and the truck is fitted with a galvanized frame that was refurbished under previous ownership.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors and drivetrain specifications, and it indicates a build date in August 1962 followed by delivery to Vancouver, Canada.
