This 1964 Porsche 356C was acquired by the seller in 2020 as an incomplete project and subsequently refurbished with work including rebuilding the engine, installing a complete interior kit, and replacing brake and suspension components, clutch assembly, and ignition system in addition to the oil pump, oil pressure sending unit, and fuel system. Additional service consisted of replacing the gear shifter bushings, windshield seal, and heater valves as well as rebuilding the brake calipers and fuel pump. The car is finished in white over red and is powered by a replacement overbored 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, body-colored bumpers, laps belts, a twin grille engine cover, and a radio delete.
The car was delivered from the factory in green and was repainted in Ivory White under previous ownership. The body was reportedly stripped and the floor pans, rocker panels, and heat channels were replaced. Exterior details include a twin grille engine cover, body-colored bumpers with chrome guards, a driver-side mirror, and brightwork around the windows. The refurbishment involved replacing the seals for the headlights, taillights, marker lights, and windshield as well as the bonnet cables, and windshield wiper bushings and mounts.
Silver-finished 15″ wheels wear polished hub caps and are mounted with Sumitomo HTE A/S PO2 tires that were installed within the last year. The refurbishment reportedly included replacing the brake master cylinder, lines, pads, and rotors as well as rebuilding the calipers. Additional work consisted of replacing all four shocks, wheel bearings, and the front king and link pins.
The interior was refurbished with a complete interior kit that included the dash, carpet, headliner, and upholstery. The seating surfaces have been reupholstered in red leather with a matching upper dash pad and door panels and are joined by beige carpet protected by Coco mats. Kilmat insulation was laid beneath the carpet, and amenities include lap belts, a lockable glovebox, and manual windows. The heater controls and valves have been replaced.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames green-letter VDO instrumentation including a centrally mounted 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 400 miles, all of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage unknown.
The 1.6-liter flat-four was reportedly sourced from a 1965 Porsche 356C and was rebuilt with a 1720 big bore kit. Work performed within the previous year is said to have included installing Weber-style intake manifolds and carburetors, rebuilding the fuel pump, and replacing fuel tank, fuel control valve, screen, and filler neck seals as well as the ignition system, oil pump, and oil pressure sending unit. The seller states that a 12 volt conversion kit was installed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. Work performed during the refurbishment consisted of refreshing the transmission, replacing the clutch assembly, throttle cable, gear shifter bushings, u-joints, and boots.
