This 1965 Chevrolet Suburban is a three-door example that was acquired by the current owner in 2006. Bodywork performed under current ownership included replacement of the floor pans, transmission tunnel, and door sheet metal along with a repaint in blue with a silver roof. The seller notes that the windshield and door glass are replacements, and that fixed, tinted side and rear windows were installed. Exterior features include silver-painted bumpers, red pinstriping, dual exhaust outlets, and reverse lights molded into the rear bumper.
Chrome 17″ six-bolt Rally-style wheels were installed during current ownership and are wrapped in Cooper Discoverer 225/65 tires. The lowered ride height was achieved with 2.5″ front drop spindles and 2″ rear lowering blocks, and braking is handled by a dual-circuit master cylinder, front discs, and rear drums. Per the seller, six-bolt axles were installed and the bushings and bearings were replaced during the refurbishment.
The cabin has been insulated with sound dampening material and features four gray leather bucket seats sourced from a Buick Terraza along with replacement carpets and a wood-veneer center console with cupholders. The Kenwood Bluetooth/CD stereo is paired with aftermarket cabin speakers, and additional amenities include a backup camera integrated into the rearview mirror, heated seats, a Vintage Air air-conditioning system, and a custom full-length headliner comprised of solid maple strips.
Instrumentation is housed in a custom aluminum bezel and includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 5k miles, all of which were added by the seller. Total chassis mileage is unknown.
The 6.0-liter Vortec V8 is said to have been sourced from an Express van and was reportedly installed during current ownership. Features include Doug’s ceramic-coated long-tube headers, an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, and an American Autowire wiring harness. An aftermarket air intake is fitted along, and the seller states that the engine computer was re-flashed during the install.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed 4L80E automatic transmission that was sourced with the engine. The seller states that a 12-bolt 4.11:1 Positraction rear end is fitted. The frame was powder-coated black during the refurbishment.
