This 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS is a black-over-black coupe that was initially delivered to John Logan Chevrolet of Brampton, Ontario. This 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS is a black-over-black coupe that was initially delivered to John Logan Chevrolet of Brampton, Ontario. A cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was commissioned by the reported second owner circa 2012, and it was recently acquired by the selling dealer. The car is powered by a replacement 396ci L78 V8 linked with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a PosiTraction limited-slip differential, and it rides on 14″ steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. The car was finished from the factory in Tuxedo Black (19), and the SS package added a revised hood and grille, a black taillight panel, and a dual exhaust system.
Black 14″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with reproduction Firestone Wide Oval white-letter tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin houses bench seating that was reupholstered in black vinyl during the refurbishment. Amenities include a Hurst shifter, front vent windows, and a heater.
The SS-branded steering wheel fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles.
The replacement 396ci V8 is said to have been installed in 1971 and is equipped with a dual-snorkel air cleaner and a four-barrel carburetor.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Muncie M21 close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a PosiTraction limited-slip differential with 4.10:1 gears.
The reproduction window sticker lists initial delivery to John Logan Chevrolet of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, along with factory equipment, and a total suggested retail price of $4,073. An NCRS Shipping Data Report and a GM of Canada build sheet are also included in the sale.
