This 1979 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne pickup was modified after the seller’s 2018 purchase with the installation of a 6.0-liter LQ4 V8, a six-speed manual transmission, Ridetech air suspension, and Baer brakes. The driver’s door and hood were replaced, dents were removed from the passenger-side front fender, and the replaced and repaired panels were repainted gray under current ownership. They were when distressed to match the finish of the rest of the truck. Additional work included replacing the side moldings, bumpers, and bumper guards. The seller states that bolt holes are present on the bed rails and that there is a chip in the windshield. The front bowtie emblem has been replaced with a wooden version.
American Racing 20″ VN511 Salt Flat Polished wheels are mounted with General G-Max tires. Braking is handled by red powder-coated Baer six-piston front and four–piston rear calipers fitted over cross-drilled rotors all around. Suspension modifications are said to include front and rear Ridetech air suspension with StrongArms control arms, a MuscleBar sway bar, and a four-link rear conversion with ShockWave air springs.
The cab is equipped with a reupholstered vinyl bench seat, and the seller notes the door panels, carpets, headliner, visors, and dash pad were replaced during the build. Equipment includes a floor-mounted Lokar shifter, air conditioning, and RetroBelt shoulder belts.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer reads approximately 6k miles, with 3k added under current ownership. Total chassis mileage is unknown. A Speedhut Speedbox GPS-driven speedometer sensor has been added and replaces the mechanical speedometer cable.
The 6.0-liter LQ4 V8 is said to have been rebuilt with LQ9 flat-top pistons, new rings and bearings, a replacement oil pump, and a Lingenfelter GT11 camshaft with matching valve springs and titanium retainers. Cylinder heads from a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 were reportedly installed to increase compression, and additional modifications include Holley fuel injection, 42-lb fuel injectors, a Holley oil pan, and dual LS3-sourced throttle bodies. The fuel tank and lines were also replaced during the refurbishment, and twin electric cooling fans, a modern-style CS alternator, and a Sanden air compressor have been installed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM Performance Super Magnum T56 six-speed manual transmission that is reportedly equipped with an LS6 clutch assembly. Additional modifications are said to include a replacement one-piece driveshaft and a 12-bolt rear Posi-traction differential with 4.11:1 gears and replaced bearings. The TIG-welded exhaust is said to feature high-flow catalytic converters, an H-pipe, and two-chamber mufflers.
