Based on the Caprice sedan, the seventh-generation Impala SS was offered for three model years, and this final year example is finished in black. Features include body-colored trim, a single-bar grille, a chrome bowtie badge, and a rear lip spoiler.
Five-spoke 17” aluminum wheels are mounted with 255/50 BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires, and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes came as standard. The Impala SS was factory-equipped with a sport-tuned suspension featuring heavy-duty shocks and springs that lowered the ride height by an inch compared to the contemporary Caprice.
The interior is upholstered in gray with power-adjustable leather front seats with SS logos embroidered in the headrests. Amenities include air conditioning, a Delco CD stereo, power aLessories, an adjustable steering column, and cruise control.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a digital odometer that shows just 28 miles.
The 5.7-liter LT1 V8 was factory rated at 260 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed 4L60E automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential with a 3.08:1 gear ratio. An oil change has been performed under current ownership.
