This 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S is a Launch Edition coupe that is finished in black over a black full leather interior and powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 19″ BBS E88 wheels, GT3 PASM coilovers, carbon-ceramic brakes, the Sport Chrono package, a sunroof, an Alcantara steering wheel, heated adaptive sport seats, and the Bose High-End Sound Package. The car was delivered new to Family Porsche in Bakersfield, California, and was acquired in 2016 by the seller, who has added 12k of the 40k miles. An LN Engineering IMS bearing was installed in 2019 along with a new clutch and flywheel, and recent service consisted of replacing the clutch slave cylinder and clutch pedal springs.
All finished in black (A1), just 337 Launch Edition examples were produced for the first model year of the 997. Features projector headlights, clear side marker lights, a sunroof, Sport Design red taillights, 991 rear badging, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and quad exhaust outlets. Clear film is present on the headlights and turn signals, and 60% ceramic tint is applied to the windshield, side, and rear windows.
19″ BBS E88 wheels with gold-finished centers are wrapped in 235/35 front and 305/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N0 Porsche Spec tires. The suspension has been modified with 997 GT3 PASM coilovers and spherical camber plates, and an alignment was carried out after installation. This car is fitted with optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), which are distinguished by yellow-painted calipers.
The cabin is upholstered in black full leather with deviated stitching on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. The heated adaptive sport seats also feature deviated stitching as well as painted seatbacks. Additional equipment includes PCM with navigation, an Alcantara shift knob and boot, the Sport Chrono package, a leather-wrapped head unit surround and door pull trim, color-matched center console trim, automatic climate control, Porsche-branded floor mats, and the Bose High-End Sound Package.
An Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with a leather airbag covering from a 997.2 frames a central tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline and a 200-mph speedometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer has 40k miles, 12k of which were added by the seller.
The 3.8-liter flat-six was factory-rated for 355 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. An LN Engineering Single Row Pro IMS bearing update kit was installed in July 2019 by All German Auto of Escondido, California and the clutch, flywheel, rear main seal, and transmission mounts were also replaced at that time. Recent service consisted of replacing the clutch slave cylinder and clutch pedal springs.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle.
